For some people, work is just work. For me, it is a different story. I started working with seniors because of my grandmother. She was a great role model for me throughout my life. As she aged, she left her house for an apartment. When that was too much, she left the apartment to move in with me and my husband. Through all this I saw how she was treated… in some cases with great patience and care, in other cases she was not given the consideration that she deserved. I could see there was a need for professionals who were understanding and sensitive to the concerns of an older person. Today’s younger generations are very mobile…moving from job to job and state to state. Emotional attachments don’t grow as strong.
